The Emergency Response and Shelter Operations Committee of the Interagency Council on Homelessness is responsible for monitoring shelter utilization and capacity. Annually, this committee develops a Winter Plan to ensure adequate shelter availability and services during the hypothermia season.

RE-SCHEDULED ICH Outreach Policy/Protocol Work Group

7/11 Update: The District is expecting a severe heat emergency starting today and into the rest of the week. Given the need to support individuals experiencing homelessness navigate to cooling centers, it does not seem appropriate to have front line staff and team leaders attending a work group meeting in the midst of a severe heat emergency. The 7/12 ICH Outreach Policy/Protocol work group meeting is rescheduled to 7/19.

CANCELLED ICH Executive Commitee

7/07 Update: Please note that we will be canceling the July Executive Committee meeting. Although many committees will be taking the month of August off, the Executive Committee will need to convene in August to prepare for the September full Council meeting. Because we have a lot of activity at the committee and work group level right now, we’d like to suggest that you take the time to participate directly in some of those other meetings this month to help shape decisions about our coordinated entry system, the winter plan, and daytime services (see list below).

The Youth Work Group is in the process of finalizing the Youth Coordinated Assistance and Housing Placement (CAHP) manual. This is one of a series of meetings that have been scheduled to support this effort and obtain feedback from the Youth Work Group members and stakeholders.

Just to confirm, due to the holiday schedule for many this month, the July meeting will be on the second Wednesday for this month only, so we are not meeting on Wednesday July 5th; we will reconvene on Wednesday July 12th at 1:30 PM at the DHCD offices at 1800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE.
