5/4 Update:

With sincere apologies, we need to postpone the HSRA Modernization meeting that was scheduled for Monday, May 8, 2017. The new date is Monday, May 15, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The location remains unchanged (64 NY Ave, 6th floor NOMA conference room).

As you know, this is a large bill proposing substantial changes to the HSRA. When we originally scheduled the meetings, we were overly optimistic about how quickly we could package the changes into a bill format and subsequently move through the legal sufficiency process. During the last week and a half, the bill has been undergoing review by both DHS-OGC and by the D.C. Office of Attorney General, Legal Counsel Division. The legal sufficiency review process has involved extensive back and forth to ensure the bill captures all of the proposed amendments and to ensure the language accurately reflects our intent.

Earlier today, we had a call OGC and OAG staff to discuss an updated timeline. Because of the breadth and scope of the changes, we feel it would not make sense to attempt a discussion on the remaining amendments without the actual language in front of you. Again, our intent is to share the redline in advance of Monday’s meeting so those of you that would like to review the language before the meeting can do so. According to our revised timeline, please note that this may not happen until late next week, so please block out time on your calendar accordingly.

We recognize that this change is very last minute, and we also know that not everyone will be able to attend the rescheduled meeting on May 15. To that end, Kristy Greenwalt is willing to host additional small group meetings to discuss the amendments later in May.

As always, we appreciate your willingness to be engaged in this important work, and we also appreciate your patience throughout the process.

ICH will be hosting two additional meetings to discuss where we are in the HSRA Amendment process and to discuss what DHS and ICH anticipates will be included in a proposed amendment.

The meetings are scheduled for Monday, May 1st, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Monday, May 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The meetings will be held at 64 New York Avenue, NE, on the 6th Floor in NoMa Training Rooms.
